Akki Brathwaite, founder of By Akki, began selling her artwork as a New Years Resolution. What a perfect example of commitment to living your own truth! Yes!

"Let your feelings be stronger than your logic.
Usually, things tend to work out better for you (in life and for your mental/physical health) if you're passionate. If you're emotionally invested in what you do, you'll make it work regardless of the difficulties.
Overall, it's more rewarding and bigger doors open when people see how you embody your work/practices."

When asked why healing community events like Freedom Night are important, she said, "For people who aren't sure what to do with "stability vs. freedom" type of decisions, it serves as a major inspiration and motivational push.
Being surrounded by people who've taken a leap, made a name for themselves, or made due with what they have to lead a happier life through their passions and aspirations can provide mentors, help build connections and collaborations, and helps others find happiness and healing.
It can also help rejuvenate people who might be experiencing burnout or loss of Self."

"Healing events are needed to combat or level out all the negative energies that are shared and passed around on a daily.
The trauma that we all go through, whether physical or mental, seems to be tucked away without acknowledging the damage it's done.
Sometimes it's easier that way, but it blocks so much good that's trying to come through.
