Organic, Medicinal Tea Recipe (Life-Giving... Literally)

Photo by: Olesya Kolos (Tenci and nature be like...)

Lately, I've been drinking this tea combo that's been so energetically uplifting for me that I thought I would share...

Warning... It's crazy bitter, but it's soooo good for you...

Heads up, because I know you’re wondering…

It's so bitter I get goosebumps all over, BUT I immediately get an underlying feeling

of being supported and uplifted... These are herbs that are alkaline-forming and heirloom, they specifically heal different aspects of your physical body as well…

Basically, it's a beautiful holistic healing experience...

Ufulu Mug

So, what's in it?

Elderberry, yellow dock, sage, nettle, and water. That's it...

Here are some medicinal properties of each ingredient:

Black Elderberry

Black Elderberry

This alkaline-forming herb has anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-influenza & anti-cancer properties. It boosts the immune system. Also used for treating sinus pain, back & leg pain (sciatica), nerve pain (neuralgia), HIV/AIDS, & chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). Some people use elderberry for allergies such as hay fever (allergic rhinitis), as a laxative for constipation, to increase urine flow, and to remove mucus from the respiratory system.

Elderberry has always been a family go-to for colds, the flu, and infections for as long as I can remember...

Yellow Dock (root)

Yellow Dock bush

This alkaline-forming herb is used for pain and swelling (inflammation) of nasal passages and the respiratory tract, poor digestion, iron-deficiency anemia, liver-gallbladder-bloodstream detoxification, and as a potent antioxidant and laxative. It is also used to treat bacterial infections, skin diseases, skin inflammation (dermatitis), rashes, a vitamin deficiency (scurvy) sexually transmitted diseases and menstrual pain. Some studies mention benefits of use for allergies and during pregnancy.

When it comes to Yellow Dock, you can't deny either the healing properties or the bitter taste. For those of you that have tasted the bitterness of goldenseal root... you're prepared...

Sage

Sage (fresh)

This alkaline-forming herb has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, carminative, antispasmodic, antiseptic, and astringent properties. It contains a medicinal property that can cure illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, depression, dementia, lupus, autism, heart disease, and cancer!

It has been used for digestive problems including loss of appetite, gas, stomach pain, diarrhea, bloating, & heartburn. It is also used for reducing overproduction of perspiration & saliva; for memory loss and Alzheimer’s disease. Women have used Sage for painful menstrual cycles, to correct excessive milk flow while nursing, and to reduce hot flashes during menopause. Spiritually, it’s often used for purification and intuition enhancement.

Nettle

Nettle

This alkaline-forming herb is used to stimulate hair growth and treat hair loss (alopecia), lower blood pressure, help control blood sugar in people with diabetes, reduce bleeding connected with gingivitis, treat arthritis and osteoporosis, treat disorders of the kidneys and urinary tract, naturally isolate and destroy cancer cells, provide relief from water retention, & prevent or treat diarrhea. Similarly, nettle has been used as a remedy for diabetes and hypertension.

Heed your body when taking nettle... look into how it interacts with any other medication you may be taking...

If you'd like to give this a go... try a 1/2 cup of the tea brew, and observe and energetic, emotional, mental, spiritual and/or physical shifts that occur in your life...

How-To FAQs

Here are some questions that I've gotten so far, as well as my responses. May they bring insight and serve you well:

Q: Do you get your herbs from a shop or through the internet?

A: YES... You can absolutely find them online (all of them). On many different websites. I shop around for the cheapest prices and just buy everything in bulk upfront (so I have it for a loooooonnnngggg time). Herbs are always best when you harvest them yourself with love and intention. However... my thumb is not the greenest, haha, and I don't know of any local organic gardens here in Austin, Texas that plant them. Let me know if you want me to share some links I think are quality…

Q: Do the teas come in tea-bag form or loose tea? Do you use all 4 teas at once? How much water? Hot or cold, etc.?

A: I brew loose herbs into a tea... I get a pot and apply this loose-herbs-to-water ratio: 1 T to 1 cup. I add 1 tablespoon of each loose herb (Pro Tip: organic, wildcrafted, loose herbs instead of powder) to 4 cups of water in total (Pro Tip: never use tap water. Instead, I use alkaline water. I got a cheap alkaline water filtration pitcher off Amazon. If you don't have alkaline water, try distilled water).

You can throw them all in the same pot or put the herbs in different mugs and add the hot water to them each separately. I believe that's personal preference. Since you'll be drinking them around the same time, it just makes sense to brew them together. I let it steep/sit for AT LEAST 20 minutes before drinking 1/2 cup twice a day...

Now, I'm not a doctor, so be sure to consult with your doctor (ideally one that knows of homeopathy/herbalism), research the medicinal properties and see how they interact with any medication (if you take any) or any diagnosed medical conditions. At the end of the day, I turn within as my gauge for what to do and when. This is something to be developed through crafting your own self-awareness practice if you don't already do that…

One last thing... you CAN cold brew the tea as an alternative! When I do that, I place them in a glass bottle or jar and let the herbs and water steep/sit into a tea overnight (or 4-9 hours) the tea will last you a few days in the fridge, just fine.

It's Your Turn...

Now…

It is in your hands.

Tell us what you thought when you tasted the yellow dock in the tea for the first time…

Did your face pucker up? Did you get goosebumps and become filled with a beautiful, comforting feeling...?

Are you drinking it twice, daily? How does it feel when you do...?

It’s important that you hone in on listening within to develop your self-awareness practice. That is the root of what we teach and do here at Ufulu Child, Kemetic EIO

Let your inner world be your guide, and Feel Free to BE…
